| From Photo to Fabric: Designing Pieced Pictures Intermediate—half day Design class only, no sewing. Do you have a favorite place or subject that you have wanted to use as the basis for a pictorial quilt? Don’t like to appliqué? This may be the class for you! All my pictorial quilts are made with this technique. For this workshop we will be using a sketch, which I will provide, to learn the process of creating a pattern for a pieced pictorial design. It is recommended, but not required that the student first take one of my freezer paper piecing classes. Supply list and pattern info/fees……… |

Pieced Lighthouse or Barn This is a machine piecing class. Students will use a pattern provided and already printed on freezer paper to piece a lighthouse or barn wall hanging. The technique is freezer paper piecing. Emphasis will be on accurate rotary cutting and sequence of stitching. There will also be some discussion on choosing fabrics for pictorial quilts. Choose from any of my currently available patterns. It is suggested that not more than three patterns be chosen for the class, with students able to pick one to work on. Stone Soup Quilts Remember the old story? The promise to feed the town with just a stone, and how everyone was encouraged to add just a bit of this or that, to improve the flavor? Do you have a lot of “odd blocks” in your collection? You know, the trial block, the one that wasn’t quite good enough, those collected in exchanges, leftovers, etc. In this workshop we will use these blocks as the ingredients to make a tasty “soup”, combining them into a pleasing and satisfying “random sampler”. |
