Course Description: Apply the
principles of total quality management and the Malcolm Baldrige National
Quality Award criteria relative to (1) the formation of partnerships between
education and businesses that have adopted the criteria; (2) strategic planning
approaches for making or guiding decision, priorities, resource allocations,
and school-wide management; (3) faculty and staff development strategies and
satisfaction; and (4) the definition of student and stakeholder needs and
expectations, and student and stakeholder satisfaction.
Textbook
There
is a coursepack for this course—no textbook.
There are seven objectives for the course:
(1) to
identify the processes and criteria for the effective formation of partnerships
between education and businesses that have adopted the Malcolm Baldrige
National Quality Award criteria;
(2) to
examine how a school can set strategic direction to better address key student
and stakeholder needs and school performance requirements
(3) to
examine various schools develop strategies and action plans, how to deploy
them, and how performance is tracked
(3) to
describe quality work systems and compensation and recognition approaches for
individuals and groups
(4) to
describe methods for developing education and training to support the
accomplishment of key school action plans and address school needs
(5) to
describe methods for maintaining a work environment and work climate that
support the well-being, satisfaction and motivation of faculty and staff
(6) to determine methods for identifying
long-term requirements, expectations and preferences of students and future
students.
(7) to
determine the satisfaction of students and stakeholders to build relationships,
improve current educational services and support
planning
COURSE ASSIGNMENTS: There are 12 required assignments
Evaluation/Grade
This course meets one weekend and the remainder of the coursework completed on the internet. Participation in the one weekend is required or there will be additional assignments required for completion. The completion of an assignment does not assure receiving the grade point as assigned to the project. The quality of work will be a primary consideration.
A grade up to a B can be achieved by satisfactorily completing these
