Course
Description: Introduces
basic statistical methods and the techniques used to analyze frequency
distributions, correlation, and tests of significance. Theory and practice of the design and
construction of instruments used to assess cognitive, affective, and psychomotor
knowledge and skill levels in education and training settings. Teacher self-appraisal and
evaluation of instruction.
Scope
of Course This
course is directed toward the improvement of measurement and testing procedures
within occupational programs. The focus of the course will be on measurement of
student growth and on program improvement.
Skills in developing, selecting, and using the instruments of
educational measurement and interpreting the results of their use may serve the
purpose of accountability. Further, they
contribute to the development and improvement of programs for the achievement
of occupational competency.

Required
Assignments
Each
of the 12 tasks will have an assignment which is intended to provide you with
an opportunity to apply the knowledge learned in class to a realistic situation
or problem. Assignments will include
such projects as analyzing case situations, using the library, looking at your
own measurement procedures, etc. Each
assignment is worth 50 points. You will
be allowed to resubmit homework to improve your point standing. (Total 600 points)
Each
task will have a short test. A table of
test specifications is provided for each test.
The tests are open book and open notes--no human help allowed. (Total of
100 points)
Optional
Activity
You
will have an opportunity to select optional activities worth 100 points. Details and evaluation criteria for the
optional projects will be provided by the instructor. Please note that these are optional
activities; however, it will not be possible for you to earn an 'A' without
completing optional work.

total of 800 points may be earned during the semester. At the end of the semester, grades will be
assigned according to this scale:
