Education Technology
Learner Objectives:
Let's begin with the assumption that teachers should be as literate as their students. Much has been done by concerned members of education organizations with regard to National Educational Technology Standards for K-12 students. Care to take a look at what your own students will know by the time you get out teaching? The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has been active in sponsoring work in this area. Their web site address is Http://www.iste.org. Go take a look. Find the old drafts view area. Careful now, this might scare you!
So, now we know what your students will know. What are you, the teacher supposed to know? ISTE has a special interest group we can join called SIGTE (Special Interest Group for Teacher Educators). These ISTE members focus on how teachers learn to infuse technology into the curriculum. They are allied with NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education), another group which has influence upon what teachers should know before being licensed. Please peruse the web sites of these organizations for more standards specific to Pre-service (you) teachers.
As you approach each project in this course, ISTE and NCATE standards will appear again in the assignment descriptions and procedure sheets. If, however, you would like to see them as a compiled list, simply come back here to download them from their source.
Let's get to work!
