Trip to Cleveland, Ohio
It was 10:50 a.m. when we left Jodie's. I stripped our bed & put the second set of sheets under the covers but the bed wasn't re-made. I packed the dirty sheets to bring home to wash. Our room is "free" so I don't want to leave more for Jodie than I have to. We found a gas station that had a cash discount so paid $2.379 per gallon to fill the tank. After our regular "going out of town" stop at McD's in Avon for lunch & an iced tea to go, we were on our way. Sometime early today I started coughing - more about this "tomorrow." The weather was rainy for part of the trip, too, but we got out of it when we headed north from Toledo. Our last stop for gas before entering Michigan is always at Stony Ridge where it was $2.329 per gallon. When we stopped at the Welcome Center near Dundee, we ran into a guy who lives on Beaver Island part of the year & in Florida the rest of the time. We had an interesting talk with him. His family owns the "hotel" on the island. The area around I-75 & US-23 near Brighton is undergoing a major construction project. I don't know what the plans are but they must have moved dirt around on at least 10 acres of land. Just after 5:00 p.m. we stopped at Countryside Gardens near Allendale, MI. I was able to buy several flats of 36 plants for $4.99 each plus a few pots of single flowers for around $2 each. Dinner was at Steak 'n Shake on Alpine, Grand Rapids. One more stop at Walmart in Cadillac and we were almost home. We always make this stop because there's not place to make emergency stops between there & home. It was 10:50 p.m. when we pulled up at our door. It was also 44 degrees outside. Yep, spring in northern Michigan. |
