Trip to Cleveland, Ohio
When I woke the next morning, it was all I could do to wash a load of dirty clothes from the trip. My cough was even worse & I was totally exhausted. By Wednesday May 6, I was so sick Joe took me to the Walk-In Clinic about 8:30 p.m. By then he was starting to cough, too. I ended up on antibiotics but they didn't seem to be helping. Joe sat around for days not doing much of anything. Anyone who knows him also knows that's not him. On Friday May 15 we went back to the Walk-in Clinic where I had a chest x-ray done & was prescribed prednisone & codeine cough syrup. The Doctor didn't actually see Joe but hinted that he should take the cough syrup, too. I can't say for sure if the prednisone helped but I started feeling a little better after that. Joe continued coughing but was also taking the cough syrup. Now he seemed worse than I did but was hopefully recovering. He took care of me. Now it was my turn to help take care of him. On Monday May 18, I realized I had not cooked a meal since before we left for Cleveland on April 24. Joe made soup a few nights or brought home food from someplace. One normal dinner lasted us for 2. Nothing tasted right. So it's now May 21. Joe is still coughing. My cough seems to be about gone. Wendy said there is some strange virus going around Ohio. We don't know if that's what we caught or something else but this has sure been a nasty one. We missed several local square dances. We did manage to go to the College BBQ last Sunday. We do what we can when we can ... but that isn't much. Now we need to recover enough to go on our trip to New England ... leaving mid-June. |
