see yesterday     see tomorrow     go back to schedule

We ate breakfast at Dianna's, a restaurant about 3 miles from Jodie's where we've gone quite often ... usually on the morning when we are leaving.  There's a McD's just down the street so we bought our daily iced tea.

Back at Jodie's, we realized the railing spindles could be cut a lot quicker with an electric miter saw.  Joe had tried to use a small hand saw.  Then he tried Paul's battery operated circular saw which kept stalling.  Neither option was working all that well.  Joe called Home Depot to see if they had one to rent.  They said the only thing available would need a truck to haul it.  We hoped they meant a pick-up.  Joe then checked with Harbor Freight about 20 minutes away & thought that would probably be our best bet to buy one that wasn't too expensive.  So we drove over, picked one out, explained to the cashier that this was only the second time we had been in one of their stores, & paid for it.  After returning to the house & setting the saw up, Joe realized there was no blade in the box.  What?  The display had a blade.  The picture on the box had a blade.  When we got back to the store, we checked the display again.  On the price tag in very small letters were the words "Blade sold separately."  After our conversation with the cashier, I would have thought she would have mentioned that "little" detail.  We didn't see her when we returned to buy the blade.  After spending over an hour running back & forth, the only good thing was that the saw made quick work of cutting the 45 degree angles at the top & bottom of each spindle.

On the way back to the house the second time, we stopped for gas at Speedway ... $2.209 per gallon ... & at McD's for another iced tea ... $1.00 per quart.  Just a mile or so down the road, gas was $2.479 per gallon.  Joe said he thought it would be worth local people driving to the Speedway station.  That's something we've discussed often ... how far can you go to save money when buying gas to make it worthwhile.

We were able to finish one section of railing and start on the second one before Jodie returned from work with Alexa.

We went to the first Panera Bread from the other night & bought carry out dinners.  I had pasta primavera & half of a peach pecan muffin.  Joe ate the other half.  Everyone else had soups & sandwiches ... except Alexa who had mac & cheese.

We've watched a few episodes of "Orphan Black" over the past couple days.  Sometime we're going to have to start at the beginning though & watch them all in order to figure out totally what's going on.
