Trip to Cleveland, Ohio
Joe finished the second section of railing this morning. Then we went to Home Depot to return the extra spindles & box of screws. Better to have too many than too few. We picked up a new aerator for the kitchen sink while there. The new railings are treated lumber (tan behind bushes). They match the stair railings. The old railing is still on right of picture. Lunch was at McD's where I caught up on my Kindle games & checked for the location of the Salvation Army store in Strongsville ... which the Yellow Pages website listed as Middleburg Heights. We went back to Jodie's to replace the aerator so Paul wouldn't get splashed with water if he came home before we did it. Then we headed for the Salvation Army store. We came out with $21 worth of stuff in a box & two bags. Joe bought 2 pairs of slacks but didn't find any shirts in his size that he liked. Next stop, Goodwill across town. It wasn't the one he wanted to visit but it was the one we found. He bought 2 shirts there. I left empty-handed. Can you believe that? I called Jodie because I wasn't sure what the plans were for picking up Alexa this afternoon. Last night Alexa had given me "directions" to her school ... "go down the street & turn, go over the bridge, go past 3 houses and the school is at the end of the street." Apparently she told her Mommy this morning that "Grandma can't find my school." Jodie reminded her that the bridge is closed for construction. Jodie had derby practice this evening. Paul picked up Alexa from school. We waited til Paul & Alexa returned home before making dinner plans. Alexa wasn't hungry because she had gone on a field trip today where they made their own pizza. Can you imagine a group of 4 year olds trying to make their own pizzas? She said she had only cheese on hers. Paul said he wasn't hungry yet either. So Joe & I headed across town to Aurora to find the dance locations for tomorrow & for the weekend. We had dinner at Steak 'N Shake before going to the Home Depot there to get nails for a surprise. We still made it back to the house before Jodie returned home. Note - Paul bought a new router/modem last summer or fall that doesn't communicate with my laptop. The Kindle doesn't have the same issues. I found that I can sometimes connect to the Beck Center which is down the street. The signal is generally poor but I can collect e-mail & do a few other things ... for a while. Then the next time I try, I may not be able to do anything. This has been a bit inconvenient & has caused some problems trying to keep up on these reports but Paul hasn't had to change settings on his router which would then slow things down for them. There may be a limit as to how long I can stay connected each day. |
