Trip to Cleveland, Ohio

see yesterday     see tomorrow     go back to schedule

Yesterday we were able to leave our coats in the van, but it's cooler again today.  This is the second trip south in a month & we've needed our winter coats both times.  So much for spring.

Joe picked up Dunkin' Donuts this morning and coffee for himself.

This afternoon, Joe used the scraps of lumber left from the railings to make something for Jodie.  I called to tell her there was a "little surprise" waiting for her on the porch.  She laughed at how that sounded.  The next day I planted flowers in a plastic pot to sit inside the box.  The following picture has a different plastic pot in it.  It was too small so I found a bigger one.

We left Jodie's just before 5:00 to head to the dance.  We stopped at Taco Bell in Steelyard for dinner.  They had a sign on their door that said they had free wifi, but my laptop didn't want to connect.  Instead, it connected to Home Depot across the street with no problem.  I answered a few e-mails and added the comment "from Taco Bell, Steelyard, Cleveland, OH" to each one.

Maybe an explanation is in order.  Steelyard, or more properly Steelyard Commons, is a huge shopping center with about 40 stores.  It is located just east of I-71 & south of the A Christmas Story house & I-490.  It was a working steelyard & may still be.  I couldn't tell if steel was still being produced in some of the buildings nearby.  An EPA report that I found seems to indicate that there's no steel manufacturing going on there now, but that could be another property that we saw not so far away.

After dinner, we stopped at the Walmart next door to waste some time before going to the Trail Thru Dance.  I was getting low on toothpaste and shampoo so we bought those.

We danced off & on for almost 4 hours.  We talked.  We snacked.  We had a good time.

We've been seeing ads for Arby's orange shakes & thought we might try them.  We stopped at one near the dance.  Their machine was broken.  We stopped at the one on 117th St.  Only the drive-thru was open so we circled the building again.  We didn't realize they only came in one size.  We should have shared one instead of buying 2.  Oh, well, Alexa got a taste.
